I posted this after some thought, obvisouly there is a difference in opinions on networking but some sound advice too. I personally love to Network and anyone thinking talent alone will suffice in the current market is probably out of work!

I agree, networking should become a core skill for life in general, especially in business. Whoever described networking as 'harrowing and a schmooze must have gone to one of those really stuffy pressured national groups, I love the way Basingstoke Business Club is so relaxed. Im much happier recieving quality rather than quantity in my referals...

Couldn't agree more with the headline David.

Paul and his colleagues at Alton4Business have always done themselves and the other independent networking groups proud, with the organisation and running of these events. I counted the best part of 40 businesses in the room for the meeting, so another roaring success.

Three 1-2-1s booked as a result and a number of reconnections made from a very positive meeting. Looking forward to more of the same in the New Year.

Good to also see that Basingstoke Business Club and Basingstoke 4 Business now have lady Chairpersons for the new networking year.

Goes to prove how the balance within groups has continued to improve, and the new dynamic is already benefitting both groups with fresh ideas coming into play.

A top bit of advice I have picked up regarding network was from Penny Power, co-founder of Ecademy, and that was "People need to be interested in who you are before they will be interested in what you do".

I believe this so true and that is why networking is not a quick "sales fix", it is about building for the long term.
