About Our Group

How Much Does It Cost?

Visitors pay just £10 (cash or cheque please) to help cover meeting costs and a fantastic choice of breakfast; it’s one of the reasons we meet at this venue!

Who Can Come Along?

Pretty much any business owner or sole-trader. We have a broad range of businesses and around 20% to 25% of the people who attend are women business owners. We’ve found the mix within the group really adds to the friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

We operate an exclusivity policy so businesses with conflicting interests to Members cannot attend as Visitors, but we try to be as flexible as possible, so if you’re not sure if you can attend just follow the link to our Member Profiles using this link Members.

If you have any questions please email our Chairman, Steve Manning, at chairman@basingstokebusinessclub.org.uk.

What’s The Difference Between Visitors And Members?

  1. Visitors can attend as often as they like, so if you can only make a meeting every now and then, that’s fine. Members commit to attending a minimum of 3 meetings a month (or sending along someone to substitute for them).
  2. There is no exclusivity policy protecting Visitors so competitor businesses can attend the same meetings. Members enjoy the protection of our exclusivity policy i.e. competitors cannot attend meetings.
  3. Visitors pay £10 per meeting. Members pay by monthly Standing Order (currently £35) which is not refundable if they cannot attend a particular meeting.
  4. Visitors are welcome to bring promotional literature along to the meetings they attend. Members can provide promotional literature at every meeting (attended or not), receive space for their Profile on our website and have their business promoted in our promotional literature.

Applying To Become A Member

Visitors can apply to become a Member simply by asking our Chairman, who circulates the proposal to all current Members for approval. Each proposal requires a majority of Members to support it to be carried.

Successful applicants receive the advantage of exclusivity, profile space on the website and any additional benefits that apply. They also commit to regular attendance and payment by monthly Standing Order.

Where a Member fails to attend the minimum of 3 meetings a month (including via the use of a substitute), the current Members can request a vote to change the status of that Member to Visitor. Should this occur and the vote is carried, exclusivity rights and Member benefits are rescinded. The individual can still attend meetings as a Visitor and reapply to become a Member again at any stage, subject to the proposal process outlined above.

If you have any questions regarding the group please feel free to ask any Member, or email your question to chairman@basingstokebusinessclub.org.uk.
